Little Steps Montessori and Day Care hosted Soorya Malwaram 2026, its Sinhala and Hindu New Year celebration, on the 3rd of April 2026 from 8.00 a.m. onwards at the SAS Indoor Stadium. The event brought together children, parents, and staff for a vibrant morning filled with traditional Awurudu customs and joyful festivities.
Dressed in colourful traditional attire, the children enthusiastically participated in a range of New Year games and activities, embracing the spirit of the season. A key highlight of the event was the selection of Little Steps Awurudu Kumara and Awurudu Kumariya 2026. Adding to the excitement, a special segment for parents saw the crowning of Awurudu Amma and Awurudu Thaaththa, fostering a strong sense of community and togetherness.
The celebration was graced by popular actresses Shiny Nethicumara and Suhandi Wosadi as chief guests, making the occasion even more memorable.
