Pink Day Allies of Musaeus College marked the first anniversary of its Breast Cancer Awareness Initiative on October 7th, 2026, with a commemorative programme held at the Peter de Abrew Auditorium, Musaeus College.
The initiative, launched on October 8, 2025, was established to promote greater awareness of breast cancer within the Musaeus College community while encouraging informed conversations about breast health, early attention to health concerns and support for those affected by the disease.
Over the past year, Pink Day Allies has developed into an ongoing awareness programme conducted with the guidance of medical professionals and the Indira Cancer Trust. Monthly awareness activities have included educational talks, workshops and programmes for students aged 17 and above, as well as faculty and staff, with an emphasis on providing accurate and medically informed information.
The initiative has also maintained a visible presence within the school community through the wearing of pink ties by students on Wednesdays each month. In addition, monthly educational videos have been circulated among the school community to keep breast cancer awareness and conversations surrounding health, support and compassion ongoing throughout the year.
Beyond awareness and education, Pink Day Allies has also extended its efforts towards community support, including the donation of medicines and other essential items to individuals in need.
The first-anniversary programme brought together members of the Musaeus College community, healthcare professionals, representatives of the Indira Cancer Trust and other supporters who contributed to the initiative during its first year. The occasion recognised the collective efforts of students, teachers, parents, medical professionals and community partners who have helped sustain the programme.
As Pink Day Allies enters its second year, the initiative remains committed to promoting responsible health awareness, encouraging informed conversations and supporting those affected by cancer, while empowering students to become informed and compassionate advocates within their families and communities.
