Musaeus College commemorated the centenary of the passing of its Founder Principal, Mrs. Marie Musaeus Higgins, with the launch of a commemorative postage stamp and first day cover, paying tribute to her extraordinary contribution to female education in Sri Lanka.
Held as part of the school’s annual Death Anniversary Commemoration on the 9th and 10th of July, the event honoured the visionary educator whose dedication and unwavering commitment laid the foundation for Musaeus College and transformed the lives of generations of young women.
The commemorative stamp and first day cover serve as a lasting symbol of Mrs. Higgins’ enduring legacy, celebrating her profound impact on education, women’s empowerment, and the nation’s future.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Chairman Mr. Ajita De Zoysa, Managing Trustee Mr. Dinesh De Zoysa, Trustee Mr. Chanaka De Silva, and distinguished officials of the Philatelic Bureau including Mr. Lanka De Silva, Mr. Viraj Fernando, and Mr. Kalum. The programme also featured the official stamp cancellation ceremony, marking this historic occasion with dignity and honour.
