With the vision of becoming “An information hub for Sri Lankan students seeking to pursue higher education”, SL2College (sl2college.org) is established as an educational non-profit organization formed and run by a global community of Sri Lankan volunteers from more than 20 countries. Volunteers are mostly graduate students from diverse backgrounds and many of them have high school and undergraduate experience from Sri Lanka. All their services are provided free of charge since SL2College strongly believes that information about higher education should not come with a price tag. SL2College, largely based online, is may be the first of its kind in Sri Lanka.

As an extension of their services, sl2college, organising a conference on ‘The Application Process to the US & Canada’ on 09th August 2012 at the RCU Skills Centre. The panel will comprise of undergraduate students from the U.S. and Canada, sharing their experiences on applying to and studying at some of the top-ranked universities there. These include Harvard, Yale, MIT and Cornell in the U.S., and Universities of Toronto, Guelph and Memorial in Canada.

This year’s interns of the MAS Holdings, Deutsche Bank and Dialog Axiata Summer Internship Program, will be hosting a fashion show, ‘Stride’, on the 12th of August 2012 at the Grand Ballroom, Hotel Ramada from 6.00 to 8.30 pm.

All proceeds of the show will be directly contributed to construction of the Radiotherapy Unit & development of a High Dependency Paediatric Unit in Jaffna. This will be carried out by ‘The Colours of Courage Trust’, a non-profit organization which aims to aid and empower individuals stricken with cancer to fight the illness whilst creating better access to medical facilities as well as promoting cancer research and awareness. The Trust initiated the highly successful ‘Trail’ project in 2011 towards building a Paediatric Cancer Ward within the Jaffna General Hospital.

The show will consist of a ‘Colourful and lively’ theme which is linked to the Colours of Courage Trust and their message of providing hope amongst victims of cancer. The show will be Choreographed by Rozanne Diasz, former Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe.
