Janashakthi Appathon Challenge Grand Finale was held on 28th of October 2016 from 6.00pm onwards at Park Street Mews.

The forefront to always modernize & bring far out ideas to the Sri Lankan Insurance Industry, Janashakthi Full Options did it again with their new-fangled project the “Appathon Challenge” as a search to find new young innovators. The Grand Finale of Jananshakthi Full Option Appathon Challenge was held at Park Street Mews on Friday the 28th of October 2016.
Since its massive launch on 13th August 2016 at Majestic City partaking 100 teams, the Appathon Challenge Grand Finale was left with the top finest five teams WhileLoop, WinterRise, 4Loop, Inlaws and Parallax.
The Managing Director Mr. Muhunthan Canagey of ICTA, the government body for policy formulation of IT related entities graced the event as the Chief Guest. Prof. Gihan Wickramanayake an ardent activist in the IT arena of the University Of Colombo School Of Computing illuminated the occasion as Guest of Honor.
As the Chief Guest of the glorious event Mr. Muhunthan Canagey stated “People can’t afford to wait. People don’t want to wait and people are annoyed waiting...” Yet with the everyday constant traffic rush in the busy streets of Sri Lanka, people are forced and compelled to ‘wait’. As a Solution Janashakthi Full Options bringing the young minds into action, initiated the Appathon Challenge powered by the Google Developer Group (GDG) with the optimism to bring forth a mobile app as solution to reduce “Heavy Traffic Jam”.
The immense service rendered by the well-known Janashakthi Full Option Company to nourish young innovators of technology was indeed miraculous. Their massive infrastructure, capital and planning disposed to the development of the challenge can’t be gone unrecognized. It was a belief within all candidates that if it wasn’t for Janashakthi Full Option Company, their new innovations would’ve only been just an idea. It was also stated that the vast training & knowledge provided by the workshops prior to the grand finale by Janashakthi, not only gave a hand for the competition but for their entire life.
The panel of judges was picked out of the eminent personals or veterans of the industry to choose the next smartest innovation of user friendly mobile applications. The panel consisted of;

Filling the stage with amusement & thrill Voice Print, Nadra and the renowned duo Bathiya and Santhush enriched the event with splendid entertainment.
Throughout the process of discovering yet unrevealed innovators Janashakthi Full Options was supported by the Digital Agency Partner MEC Sri Lanka, Tech Partner ReadMe.lk, Photography Partner XtreamYouth and Online Content Partner Rour.lk.
After much strive, WhileLoop’s “Take Me There’ app was crowned as Winner of the 1M cash prize, WinterRise’s “Parking” app as the runners-up with a cash prize of Rs. 250,000 and the remaining finalist “Travel Smart” by 4Loop, “Together” by Parallax and InLaw’s “SchoolBus” was rewarded Rs.100,000 each by Janashakthi.
Every bit of the fabulous event was indeed inspiring, knowledgeable, informative and interactive with the brain-arresting presentations of the five contesting teams. While congratulating the finalists we hope this will only be the beginning in the making of a nation filled with young innovators.
