Operation Blue Blanket v2.0 and 2.1

It’s been a while since ResistanceLK gathered up for a big scale OP since the last anomaly. However, the smurf army all around Sri Lanka was continuously active in their own local spheres, working hard to strengthen themselves. In order to put an end to this long pause, and regain the lowered global MU count, agent @kaali89 came up with a large scale OP which notably did not involve Jaffna as a base. Due to his hometown being Anuradhapura,@kaali89 had easy access to many portals in the sacred city. Around these, he weaved a plan with three layers that included Maldives, Trincomalee and Udawalawa.

The preparation for the op went for almost a month, within which @kaali89 contacted the field agents and got them together as an OP unit and briefed them about the plan. All the barriers and risks were thought through, and the smartly diverse team with agents scattered throughout Sri Lanka to make sure the blockers were well managed and cleared on time.

Agent @WanniHR took up from Kandy. (Let’s just leave a note to salute his bravery to ride a motorbike even without the licence in hand, while riding right in front of cops, as it’s rumored) to take care of the blockers clearing the coast.@CluZuu upgraded the Udawalawa base portal at the last minute but had to rush back home due to a personal call.@coolb cleared blockers around Galle Fort and @akunlumited joined from Galle to head towards Hikkaduwa, making sure those areas are nice and clear, while riding on @coolb’s bike. The duo rode through thrashing rainy winds but were stopped by cops for a routine check. Little did the law enforcement officers knew that the minds of half of the Sri Lankan population would rest on the guys whom they stopped right there! Somehow, they managed to pull their “doctor cards”, and made it to the blocker just in time to ADA the portal in last minute leading to the checkpoint.

While Sri Lanka was making the preparations, the ever vigilant Maldivians Resistance comrades @estrul1an, @triplocked, @phenol33 and the team made the Tsunami monument portal ready to be linked from MV. There was a clever decoy plan to make sure the base portal stay safe from unwanted last minute attacks. Many agents were on premises to defend the base until the checkpoint was reached. During his travelling through Sri Lanka,@JohnnyGreen gave his support to the mission by tiptoeing around to avoid any blocking links until the op is completed. We can’t forget the new agent @KattStanB’s contribution by not making blockers, too!

The op could not be done in the day it was planned originally due to a blocking link by an Enlightened agent, right after @coolb cleared the blockers of our own in that area. Being the dedicated players they are,@coolb and @akunlumited vowed that they’ll make sure this operation will be done successfully. Meanwhile, agent @nkari was stationed in Kurunegala in case any blocker popped up.

The commitment and hard work of everyone in the team, and others who supported by not making blockers pushed the op through to the edge of success. Agent @kaali89 linked from Anuradhapura to Maldives. While the duo @coolb and @akunlumited did the drive by ADA,@estrul1an linked from MV to Udawalawa. The moment the confirmation was received,@thinir linked from Udawalawa to Anuradhapura.

With his well calculated timing,@kaali89 linked “Buddha Statue at New Bus Stand” to UW and MV, “D. S. Senanayaka Statue” to MV, “City Clock Tower” to UW and MV, “City Clock Tower” to “Elephant Statue”, “Elephant Statue” to “Public Library Udawalawa” and “Lord Shiva” portals, while agent @thinir linked “Public library Udawalawa” to “D. S. Senanayaka Statue - Anuradhapura” and “Lord Shiva - Trinco”, finally successfully completing a wide “Blue Blanket”, which flowed through the skies covering a good half of Sri Lanka and crossing the blue waters below all the way over to Maldives.

The timings were all planned targeting 1.30am checkpoint and this attempt succeeded in covering over 20 million MUs with a mind blowing creation of two layers within a few seconds in the very last minute. Well, the best part is… it did not end there!

The day dawned right after the completed Operation Blue Blanket v2.0, showing the possibilities of pulling off a similar OP. Enlightened army wasn’t expecting another op right after, so there weren't any blockers at sight just yet, and since @kaali89 was still at his home town, the team gathered up to plan an impromptu extension to the OP; the Blue Blanket v2.1.

2.1 contained the same already planned layers. Since the first OP was able to achieve only two layers, this was carefully and swiftly organized targeting the 2.30am checkpoint to complete 3 layers worthy of over 28 million MUs. The agents managed to pull it off flawlessly, affecting a well visible boost in the global Resistance MU count.

Going to the depths, while the operation was smooth and the coordination was perfect, as in any complex op, the agents had to face many unexpected turns of events. Some worthy mentions are @coolb and @akunlumited’s out of the blue encounter with the Police,@CluZuu and @WanniHR having to be involved in urgent personal deeds within the critical time of the op and @thinir having visited Colombo did rush back home just in time to make the fields. The rest of the team Resistance LK including @pasindu007, who coordinated everything during the OP,@yakaa and @Dumira who provided keys and capsules,@rbcontra contra,@nkari and @Deenster who provided their support should be mentioned with honor.

Operation Blue Blanket v2.0 backed by Operation Blue Blanket v2.1 became a complete success. Blue clad #Ingress players all around Sri Lanka will take up the duty in their hands in order to organize and execute many such operations.

A Storm is brewing.

The Resistance is coming.

We will not back down!
