Since its inauguration in 2001, the Science Union of Ananda College has carried out numerous projects with the prime aim of instilling enthusiasm in students to pursue a career in science and to augment the knowledge base students possess in the field of science and technology.
Renovatio '18 of Visakha Vidyalaya was held on the 16th of February 2018 from 2pm to 6pm onwards at the Jeremias Dias Hall by the distinguished presence of Prof. Rangika Halwathura of the University of Moratuwa.
Renovatio '18 organized by the Senior Science Society of Visakha Vidyalaya was participated by 16 schools island wide including Royal College, Ananda College, Nalanda College , Richmond College, Galle, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya​, Musaeus College, Holy Family Convent etc.
Visakha Vidyalaya Renovatio' 18 commenced on the theme of 'Ancient Civilizations and Technology', held the grand finale of the Annual Science Quiz of Visakha Vidyalaya based on the theme of the event. Competing with over forty schools across the island, Nalanda College and D. S Senanayake College achieved to reach the top scores and become the finalists of the quiz. It was a battle of knowledge and wisdom between the two top schools and the young contestants armoured themselves with facts and figures for a tough competition. Both schools excelled extremely well in the quiz and after answering a series of questions relevant to 'Ancient Civilizations and Technology', Nalanda College succeeded to out do D. S Senanayake College and become the winners of Visakha Vidyalaya Renovatio '18.
