Lokaya Thani Yayak - Kala Ulela of Visakha Vidyalaya was held on the 4th of March 2016 from 2.00 pm onwards at the Jeremias Dial Hall at the school premises. An evening of color and splendor, the event was dedicated to the life and works of renowned Sri Lankan poet, Mahagama Sekara, an iconic name in Sinhalese literature.

Lokaya Thani Yayak – A Cultural Festival, Annual Kala Ulela, organized by the Sinhala Literary Association, Chitra Kala Sangamaya, Lalitha Kala Sangamaya, Drama Society and Oratory and Debate Society of Visakha Vidayalaya was held on the 4th of March 2016 from 2.00 pm onwards at the Jeremias Dial Hall at the school premises. An evening of color and splendor, the event was dedicated to the life and works of renowned Sri Lankan poet, Mahagama Sekara, an iconic name in Sinhalese literature.

In this light, Lokaya Thani Yayak was graced by yet another iconic figure in the field of Sri Lankan arts, Rathna Sri Wijesinghe, also the chief guest of the evening. Well known for perfecting the Sinhala art song, complete with an array of beautiful poems and years of experience under his belt, Rathna Sri Wijesinghe left the audience both stunned and inspired.

Among the many other invitees was none other than the daughter of the great Mahagama Sekara, Nirupama Salmalee, as she proudly watched the works of her father unfold on the grand stage. Many other significant names in Sri Lankan culture and arts such as Buddhadasa Galappathi, Saranga Disasekara, Chitra Balasuriya and Siril Wickramage were also in attendance at this splendid festival. This celebration of Sri Lankan culture, complete with these iconic personalities in attendance, indeed made an evening to remember.
