Perceiving with celebration the moral integrity and ascendancy of Visakhian sportswomen, the Colours Night 2016 took the stage of Jeremias Dias Main Hall on the 12th of July 2017 with the headship and guidance of Principal Madam Sandamali Aviruppola and the delightful company of countless awardees, invitees and proud parents.

Perceiving with celebration the moral integrity and ascendancy of Visakhian sportswomen, the Colours Night 2016 took the stage of Jeremias Dias Main Hall on the 12th of July 2017 with the headship and guidance of Principal Madam Sandamali Aviruppola and the delightful company of countless awardees, invitees and proud parents.

The Chief of Defence Staff of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces General A.W.J. Chrishantha De Silva RWP USP ndu psc who was honoured with the gallantry medals of Rana Wickrama Padakkama and the Uttama Seva Padakkama for his impeccable military service; gleamed the majestic night with his distinguish arrival as the Chief Guest at the Colours Night of Visakha Vidyalaya. The blissful presence of one of the most cardinal officers in the Regiment who dared himself to put up with precarious risk even at the expense of his life, brought out a treasure trove of highly experienced life gens and morals for the young awardees to add up into their run for future success.

Honouring the true sportsmanship and dedication towards uplifting the school pride within the Visakhians in Sports, Certificate of Achievements, merit certificates and also awards for Up & Coming Players were presented by the Principal and distinguish invitees. The proud Visakhian teams of Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Diving ,Karate, Netball, Rowing, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Water Polo and Wushu who excelled into incredible heights were awarded Special Awards for Outstanding Achievements of Sports.

It was a night of prestige and excellence, but there were stars that sparkled illustrious than the rest. The sportswomen par excellence were awarded with School Colours and trophies of Best Players, Best Sports Leadership and Most Talented Sports Personalities. The Most Outstanding Player of year 2016 was chosen with Nethmi Waduge of Tennis as Most Outstanding Player 2016 - Team and Tharushi H.D. Niklesha of Chess as Most Outstanding Player 2016 - Individual.

None of the above achievements would have been possible without perfect supervision and coordination. Appreciating the tremendous effort and service rendered, momentoes were offered to the Coaches, P.T.I and T.I.C for unlocking the girls' potential and exposing the best performance within them.

In sports, a victory is never won overnight. Along with all determination and hardwork, it requires one's credence, especially at drastic times, to keeping believing of a silver lining to come without crying over spilt milk. Visakha Vidyalaya not always won, but their courage made the count of wins , top up than the matches loss.
