Ladies College is the first school to have introduced flippa ball in Sri Lanka. This friendly exhibition tournament you are about to witness is the first ever flippa ball match to be played in Sri Lanka and I hope you all enjoy watching this sport as much as we did.
Ladies' College Water Polo' introduces 'Flippa Ball' as they played a mini league at the Inter House Swimming Meet 2013 at the college pool on the 9th of June 2013.
Flippa Ballâ„¢ is a modified version of water polo for beginners and has taken off across Australia. The game has been designed for children aged between 8 and 12 years. It is a fun, simple game that can be played by all children regardless of their height, gender and most importantly of all, their swimming ability. Being a modified version of water polo, Flippa Ballâ„¢ is played in the shallow end of the pool so that the children may use the bottom of the pool to rest and for added security and safety.
Flippa Ballâ„¢ aims to introduce juniors to a modified version of water polo by providing an enjoyable, interactive game that will encourage them to pursue the sport and go on to play water polo. Through participation in Flippa Ballâ„¢, children will learn and develop skills that are needed for water polo with greater ease.
Flippa ball was first introduced to Ladies' College in 2012 by our head coach Awnee Razack, Assistant coach Shehan Dassanayake and other coaches, Sanchitha Wickremasooriya and Kanishka Fernando, to secure the future of Ladies' College water polo. I must say that flippa ball has grown immensely since its commencement in 2012 , from 6 players to 26 players in 2013.
