Music is a universal language. Just like Mathematics , English or any other subject music caters to people with different interests and personalities.
When words fail to speak, music can touch the deepest emotions within us. Having experienced this themselves, the Legendary Senanayakians started writing the history of orchestral music back in the year 2000, when by then not a single school had the idea. This little orchestra, by the name ‘Swathath Miyuru Rata” drove a long journey which ended with a brilliant orchestra with performances of hundreds of young multi-talents. Marking this annual event in history, this grand orchestra was able to attract the hearts of many around the country for introducing the school orchestra concept. It has been the tradition that Senanayakians always lead and let the others follow. When the others start imitating this grand event, Swathath Miyuru rata staged their 10th show in the year 2010 at the BMICH leaving the conventional music for a while. Senanayakians took another step forward by the name Theewraa in the year 2011.
Among these colourful lights and heartwarming music, Senanayakians took fusion music to the stage with the applause of thousand of music lovers all over the world. This unstoppable, incomparable effulgent orchestra will move on till the day they’ll conquer the whole world with brillaince in music. Theewraa’12 is going to be another grand show filled with surprises, full of millions of lights and live music. No other school can compete with the cubs because they handle the instruments with care and practise, but we do with born talent.
Celebrating the 45th anniversary of D.S.Senanayake College, The Old Boys’ Association together with the students of A/L section proudly presented “THEEWRAA” 2012, an eve of music & charm, for the second consecutive year at The Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre on the 16th of November 2012 from 6.30 pm onwards.
