The Grand Finale of Spotlight 2016 - a public speaking contest with a twist was held on 6th of November 2016 at the Lakshman Kadirgama Institute Auditorium. Organized by the Old Boys' Association of Amal International School, the contest was conducted under three categories - a senior Amal best speaker, junior Amal best speaker and inter-school best speaker contest. Five finalists from each category battled it out to be crowned as Spotlight champion for 2016.

Amal International School, which is the pioneer in local syllabus English medium education in the country, has produced many competent public speakers who have won various awards both nationally and internationally, including the past two consecutive winners of the All Island Best Speaker contest organized by the Colombo Toastmasters Club, in Aaqib Reyal and Umar Azwer.
