Since its inauguration in 2001, the Science Union of Ananda College has carried out numerous projects with the prime aim of instilling enthusiasm in students to pursue a career in science and to augment the knowledge base students possess in the field of science and technology.
Since its inauguration in 2001, the Science Union of Ananda College has carried out numerous projects with the prime aim of instilling enthusiasm in students to pursue a career in science and to augment the knowledge base students possess in the field of science and technology.
Carrying on this legacy, the Science Union proudly presented it's signature project; "Scientia'17", the annual science day for the 17th consecutive time under the theme 'Artificial Intelligence' on the 7th of February 2018 from 2pm onwards at the Kularathne Hall of Ananda College.
The event was a tremendous success with the participation of over 400 school students from 40 schools throughout the island including Visakha Vidyalaya, Ladies College, Museaus College, Royal College, Holy Family Convent, Asian International School, St Peters' college, Nalanda College, Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Sirimavo Bandaranayake Vidyalaya, St. Joesephs College, Rathnavali Balika Vidyalaya Gampaha, D. S. Senanayake College, Royal Institute, Lyceum International School, Sujatha Vidyalaya, Yasodara Vidyalaya, Gothami Balika Vidyalaya and Ananda Balika Vidyalaya.
The event was graced by Prof. Rosa (University of Colombo) as the Chief Guest along with Prof. A. S. Karunananda (University of Moratuwa) as the guest of honor.
The final round of the annual science quiz "Intellect'17" was also held live on stage at Scientia'17 with the quiz team of Royal College Colombo emerging Champions and the quiz team of Visakha Vidyalaya emerging as the 1st Runners-Up.
