The inaugural Colombo Night Races and the second Electric Peacock Festival will take place this December, taking entertainment in Colombo to another level. The organisers of both events promise the country a weekend like never before, packed with fast cars and stellar music acts. The two events will take place on the 16th and 17th of December 2011 in the Galle Face Green and Fort areas of Colombo. The big party weekend will kick off with this years’ Electric Peacock Festival, to be held in and around the grounds of the historic Galle Buck Lighthouse, Chaitiya Road in Colombo on Friday the 16th December, which will also play host to the qualifying sessions for the races to determine drivers’ race starting Grid positions.
Following its success last year as Sri Lanka’s first international music festival, it will feature prominent and diverse acts from the UK and Sri Lanka. Headlining this year will be Basement Jaxx starring Felix B, with legendary DJ Chicane performing with live percussion and vocals as main support. Prominent BBC Radio 1 DJ Nihal will be taking things into the early hours of the morning, and local DJs Asvajith Boyle and Tim of Offshore Life round off what is surely the most amazing line up of the year. Tickets for the music festival will be priced at Rs. 2,000/- for general admission and Rs. 4,000/- for VIP.
Organized by the Grant Group, the musical extravaganza will continue on the Saturday night as the Electric Peacock team curate the entertainment at parties to follow the races into the early hours of Sunday morning. Bringing their edgy, innovative and creative take on entertainment, the Electric Peacock team is revved up to take on Colombo full force with their musical offering this December.
Following the qualifying race the night before, the first ever Colombo Night Races are ready to set the streets of Colombo ablaze with an event that this city has never seen. The crème de la crème of Sri Lanka’s racing scene will be competing for what is set to be the motor racing event of the year.
Electric Peacock Festival Co-Founder Leah Bazalgette said, “We are once again excited to bring Sri Lanka our unique festival concept and this year we are taking it a step up with live art installations, theatrical performers, and of course some of the foremost names in music.” Co-Founder Tasha Marikkar went on to add, “Our line-up on Friday jam packed with many international acts so keep your eyes fixed to our website for more updates. We believe in life changing music experiences, so it is fantastic to be invited to collaborate with the Colombo Night Races and give the city an unforgettable weekend this December”.
The organizers are confident that their joint efforts will culminate in a phenomenal, fast-paced world-class experience for all those who attend this weekend event. Special weekend ticket packages and distribution points to be announced in due course.
