12th August 2011, The International Youth Day, was special to Sri Lankan youth than the other, since more than 1500 youths from all around the country gathered to the University of Colombo grounds to form the word “YOUTH” to make a Guinness World Record.

5 Global Change Makers of British Council, with the help of around 150 volunteers and in association with almost all leading youth associations, succeeded in setting the Guinness World Record and everyone was with their hearts full of joy by sunset.

This event is endorsed by the British Council (Sri Lanka), Global Changemakers, UN International Year of Youth. The Official Electronic Media Sponsor for the event is MBC Networks (PVT) LTD, the Official Print Media Partner is Wijeya Newspapers, Official Beverage Partner is Nestle Lanka (PVT) LTD, and the Official Cloth Partner We Are Family Foundation (New York) and the Three Dot Dash Initiative (New York).

The following Youth Service Organizations had partnered with us to support this record goal by providing their own youth for the event; National Youth Services Council, Leo Sri Lanka, SLMUN, Rotaract, Interact, AIESEC, IYV+10 and the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association.
