The first six lane regatta ever to be conducted in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka's first ever K1 Sprint Kayak races
Participating institutes will include S/L Army, Navy, Air Force, Canoe & Kayak Association, Colombo Rowing Club, Bolgoda Lake Rowing Club, University Of Colombo, University Of Moratuwa, Royal College, S. Thomas’ College, Asian International School, Ladies College, Musaeus College, Bishops College, Ananda College, Nalanda College, Visaka Vidyalaya.
Location
The location selected is the recently dredged Diyawanna Lake with the Sri Jayawardenepura Highway running the length of its shore. The Sri Jayawardenepura Highway bordering the full length of the lake offers spectators an excellent view of the entire course, as the course will be laid out aligned almost parallel to the Sri Jayawardene pura highway bordering the Diyawanna Lake. Notably this will be the first attempt in Sri Lanka to turn this hitherto exclusive sport into a mass spectator sport. The paved side walk and the newly installed foot path with benches and the shady trees will allow spectators to relax on the shady banks of the lake and enjoy the races.
