The Youth Group of St. Joseph’s Church Rathmalana is once again in the process of Organizing “September Rain 2012”, an event with a carnival atmosphere, on Saturday, 29th September 2012 to celebrate the Group’s successful journey of 38 long years of existence. The event originated in the year 2008 as a preparation for the 35th anniversary of St. Joseph’s Church Youth Group. An unexpected success of the event led us to donate money into charity and was able to help lots of people and the church. This inspired us to carry on this as a tradition and yet again every year it was a major success. Youth carried out charity projects and donations for various organizations and people who are in need from the money collected by the event.
St Joseph’s Church Ratmalana which was built in 1974 and started as a small parish with 80 families which serves the church and helped to build a good catholic parish. For the past few decades the church has not been done any major renovation and maintenance. Due to this our present parish priest Rev.Fr. Ronnie Wickramasinghe has taken the responsibility to make these major changes in the main church building with the help of the parishnors and their donations. As the youth group of the church we intend to give our church the fullest support with the funds collected by us from the event “September Rain 2012” which will be in aid for the renovations and maintenance of the church building.
This event being one of the major project that is carried out by the youth members every year. With the support of our parish priest the youth have been planned to make the “September Rain 2012” a success with all their efforts and ideas to help church. This year we have organized the event with more decorative and hoping to give a good carnival experience for all the people who will be attending this event, with live bands, games, food stalls, magic shows, fireworks, horror house and the LIGHT MAGIC DJ music extravaganza which is done by the best DJ’s in town.
