1.To start our conversation, Could you give us a short introduction about your self ?
Well my name is Nipuna Pitigala, I was born in 1990, Live in Wellawatte, I'm the owner of NEO RECORDZ, I Produce music, Sing, Rap and love listening to lot of songs.

2. People call you as? (Any Nick name?)
People know me as Neo that's my nick name as well as my stage name.

3. How did you enter the Music industry?
Well it just happened; I mean music just came to me. In 2006 I was experimenting a software call Dance eJay. Back in the day all I knew was to mix loops together and make 2 to 3 minuet tracks. But later on I wanted to use more advance software's such as the Cakewalk products. At the time I was experimenting Cakewalk I got to know about Mr.Ranga Dasanayake's Hit Factory Audio School, I started the audio production course to learn more about the engineering side and more advance music products. This is how I was introduced to Qubase and Reason software's. Now it has been almost 5 years, since I've started advance productions. And that's how I stepped in to the field.

4. We would love it if you could tell us about your school life....
I attended to Ananda College, did my GCE (ordinary levels) in 2006 and sort of abandoned the education side and started concentrating on my music career. Because unlike normal kids my school life was not that sweet or fun, and I was not much of a book monkey ether. But I did make some good friends there and one of them is Harin Lawantha who became my best friend in grade 5, 6, and 7 but then he was nowhere to be found, then again in 2009 we got to know that we were in the same field and started working together once again. Well that's sort of my school life plus I don't have much to talk about this subject.

5. Do you love to follow new fashion trends in your ordinary life or do you prefer to be Simple ? If yes to follow new fashion what do you prefer most?
Well I can't say I'm charm but I like to be me when it comes to fashion, love to become A Trend Setter than a follower.

6: What cosmetics you recommend?
I'm a guy, so don't know much about cosmetics but I do like the perfume brand “Dolce & Gabbana”

7. Your idea about Sri Lanka..? What do you think?
It's my mother land, where I was born and I love my country. Not to be rude or anything but No matter what people say about these magical worlds like Disney Land or Universal Studios, the real magic is in our country, the magical green, the magical whether, the magical beaches and the list will keep going on and on. That's the reason some call it the Small Miracle. All I can say is I'm a Sri Lankan and I'm proud of it.

8. How do you spend your leisure time?
Well most of my leisure times are on weekends, when my dad comes home after 5 days of work at Kahawatte. We hang out together a lot, I love to play pool with my buddies and I listen to loads of songs.

9. What is the most unforgettable incident in your life?
My mom's death is something that I won't ever forget. Even though I was just 5 years old I still remember the way I cried when they closed the coffin.

10. What do you think about love & tell us about your soul mate.
Love is something that you have to feel, you can't force someone or force yourself to love someone. Some do say that love is a pain; they say this because they haven't tasted true love in their lives. If I may say this in a shorter form, the guy should know how to treat his girl right, and the girl should let the guy treat her right as well as treat him the same way. I won't say much about my soul mate but I love her so much. Taking a moment to thank her cause she was always there with me when I needed her.

11. What is the secret behind your success?
Heard Work, Dedication and Determination.

12. Who is your role model ? & are you imitating someone?
I don't imitate anyone, but I like Timberland's music, the way he uses his beats and all, sort of got me in to an influence on them.

13. People do have these bitter incidents in their lives.. It's the same with every human being. I'm sure you must have had the same bitter experiences in life. Would you like to share one of them with us? Perhaps the worst one from them?
Well like I said just as much as the most unforgettable moment the only bitter incident is my mom's death and there is nothing that can top that memory.

14. Are you happy with whatever you've achieved so far in life?
Well so far yes, I'm very happy with what I've got. But I do have a lot more to achieve in the future.

15.How many songs you've released [till now] ? are there any video songs? what about the latest release [if any available] ?
I've released around 17 audio tracks, some are solos, some are featured and some are ones that I've produced for upcoming artists. I've done only one video and that is to “Kiuwe Naa Obe” the most downloaded Valentines song in 2010. The video was done by the filmMINACUS crew. Was released through Sirasa Tv Looks Like program. Also I have featured in Harin's upcoming new music video “Mae Yame”. There are some new songs to be released very soon, started a featured song with Harin, but we still haven't named it. And also featured tracks with Apzi and A-Me will be released soon.

16. Advices to the new comers & to the people who are gonna join the industry ??
I have to thank Xtream Youth for asking this question, cause I have a lot to tell the new comers. When you're entering the field you don't know anything, you will feel lost. But there are some who think they know everything from the beginning, but they won't last for much long in the industry. Let say you're going to work as a music producer, then you must know all kinds of music genders from the Classics to Pop from Hip Hop to New Age and the list goes nonstop. Another thing the new comers should know is there is no such gender as Sri Lankan Hip Hop, if you take a list of international music styles or genders you will see what I'm talking about. This Sri Lankan Hip Hop style is something that's made up by the artists of our country and every new comer thinks that this is an awesome style. But what it does is, it damages the Sri Lankan culture as well as the international standards. So I recommend, (Eg.) If you're a Hip Hop Producer you do your production up to the international standard and voice it in Sinhala, which will automatically makes the track a Sri Lankan Hip Hop. This way it won't harm our culture or theirs. Also listening to music all around the world is a must for a good producer. If you need more advice about the industry send me an e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

17. What do you have to say to your fans? As a matured person in this particular industry what advices would you like to give to the new comers in the industry as well as to the people who have the desire to step in to the industry? It's the time to share your thoughts...
I need your support as much as y'all can give me so far you guys have been a great help so thank you guys so so much stay with NEOZ and stay safe.
Like I said listen to a lot of music all around the world, help who are trying to get on their feet and at the same time try to stand your ground without falling, you have to be strong, work hard, dedicate your life to it, determination is a must, don't count on any one, struggle to you last breath and then struggle some more. Haters will keep one hating but your job is not to quit what you're doing, your job is to get more advice from the professionals in the field and show everyone what you're capable of.
Well now then I have to thank Xtream Youth for having this interview with me as well as with my crew members and I have to thank my family and friends for always supporting me every way they can. Love you all so much, stay safe and peace out.
