⢠Youth as Advocates â When young people stand for their beliefs and understand the impact of their voices, they can represent their families and communities with pride, courage, and ability.
⢠Youth as Evaluators. Assessing and evaluating the effects of programs, classes, activities, and projects can promote Youth Voice in powerful ways. Young people can learn that their opinions are important, and their experiences are valid indicators of success.
⢠Youth as Specialists â Envisioning roles for youth to teach youth is relatively easy; seeing new roles for youth to teach adults is more challenging. âI see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words. When I was a boy, we were taught to be discrete and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise and impatient of restraint.â
Hesiod quotes (Greek poets, "the father of Greek didactic poetry", 700bc)
âThrough our great good fortune, in our youth our hearts were touched with fire. It was given to us to learn at the outset that life is a profound and passionate thing.â
Oliver Wendell Holmes quotes (American Physician, Poet, Writer, Humorist and Professor at Harvard, 1809-1894)
âThe true lover of learning then must his earliest youth, as far as in him lies, desire all truth. . .He whose desires are drawn toward knowledge in every form will be absorbed in the pleasures of the soul, and will hardly feel bodily pleasures- -I meâ
Plato quotes (Ancient Greek Philosopher He was the world's most influential philosopher. 428 BC-348 BC)
The youth of a nation are the trustees of posterity. On the young will depend the hopes of the future. Their idealism, their integrity, their character form priceless assets of the country.
