Sea-Anchor | By Grace W

She attached herself to her ship like any other rational anchor. It was her role to play. The savior of the vessel. She held on to the ship every time he threw her out. This is what she was made for. To endure. To sustain and to be strong. She didn't give up on him. He was her ship.
Sea-Anchor | By Grace W

She was an anchor.

She attached herself to her ship like any other rational anchor. It was her role to play. The savior of the vessel.
She held on to the ship every time he threw her out. This is what she was made for. To endure. To sustain and to be strong.
She didn't give up on him. He was her ship.

She chained herself. She didn't break her rod. She couldn't.
She drowned herself instead.
Simply because he could get through. Through the storms and survive the winds.
Because he couldn't be stable without her.
And she knew that. So did he. He often denied the fact due to his male ego. But she didn't mind.
Until he found himself ashore, she decided to remain lost at sea with him. Fighting through the currents. Whirlpools and pressurizing battles underwater almost unheard by him. Just so he could surpass. That's all that mattered anyway. His safety.

He might not have even noticed. But she remained faithful. And that was all that mattered anyway to her. That he was strong and unharmed.
She was there just incase. Just incase he needed her.
She remained drowned and unnoticed. She didn't want to get in his way.
He might have forgotten that it was she who kept him steady. But that's okay. She was used to this by now.

Against the currents, the waves and the psychotic winds. They endured. Together, somehow. She was his sea anchor. She didn't want him to drift away and be lost. She knew he couldn't handle to face the world without her. Even though he swore he would be fine. She knew. Deep down inside, he knew too. At least she hope he did.
She remained faithful to her ship underwater. Almost an illusion of separation. She kept him steady despite. Despite his pride and ego.

She never dared to get in his way. She would never hold him back when he wanted to be free.
All she wanted was the promise of tomorrow.
She just wanted him to be safe.

One fine day, after the storms and winds. He found himself a treasure in the depths of the sea bed. All he wanted was to sail and celebrate.

He was her ship.
He was both safe and happy now.
So she finally set him sail free.
All she wanted was his happiness.
She was just a dead weight anchor after all.
